A modified tissue-saving technique with silver nitrate to obliterate tunnels for hidradenitis suppurativa
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) poses a significant surgical challenge due to its chronic nature, characterized by widespread abscesses, tunnels and scarring. We introduce a modification to mini-deroofing for HS tunnels: the application of silver nitrate into the tunnel to achieve tunnel obliteration and expedite healing. Compared with traditional deroofing, our in-clinic method is faster, less invasive, involves a smaller exposed wound surface area and eliminates the need for a separate appointment.
