Gouty tophus in the vocal fold: A rare case report
Tophi, a common manifestation of gout, are rarely observed in the larynx. We report a case of a 39-year-old male presenting with hoarseness and mild dysphonia. Electronic laryngoscopy revealed a submucosal lesion on the right true vocal fold. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated a hyperdense nodule with thyroid cartilage involvement. Histopathological examination of the surgically excised lesion confirmed the diagnosis of gouty tophus. This case underscores the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges posed by atypical presentations of common diseases.
