Analytical Modeling of Mutual Inductance in Superconducting Pancake Coils for Wireless Power Transfer Systems

This paper presents an analytical approach for calculating the mutual inductance between superconducting pancake coils in Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems, leveraging the improved series-form analytical expression derived from [1]. The method addresses the challenges of misalignment and complex coil geometries typical in high-temperature superconducting (HTS) applications. The results obtained from the analytical model are compared with numerical simulations and experimental data from the work of Shi et al. [2], demonstrating improved accuracy and computational efficiency. This work provides a robust tool for the design and optimization of HTS WPT systems.

Abstract

This paper presents an analytical approach for calculating the mutual inductance between superconducting pancake coils in Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems, leveraging the improved series-form analytical expression derived from [1]. The method addresses the challenges of misalignment and complex coil geometries typical in high-temperature superconducting (HTS) applications. The results obtained from the analytical model are compared with numerical simulations and experimental data from the work of Shi et al. [2], demonstrating improved accuracy and computational efficiency. This work provides a robust tool for the design and optimization of HTS WPT systems.
