Polarimetric Fiber Optic Displacement Sensor Based on High Order OAM Modes
A polarization displacement sensor based on the high order orbital angular momentum modes in air core optical fibers was presented. The vortex beam was excited and the displacement alterations through the geometric phase induced by helical transmission was quantified. The device can effectively measure the polarization rotation at the output of the fiber, which showed a high degree of linearity between the measured signal and the spring displacement. The experiments showed that a sensitivity of 0.0106 rad/mm was achieved over a measuring range of 85 mm. The measured power variation is within 4.07%, which verifies the repeatability and stability of the sensor.
