Demodulation technique for expanding the dynamic range of an open-loop IFOG

This work proposes a new technique for modulation and demodulation of an open-loop interferometric fiberoptic gyroscope (IFOG) to expand its dynamic range. We implemented and tested this technique and achieved a full range higher than 370 °/s, with an angle random walk (ARW) of 1.168 · 10−2 °/ √h and a bias drift of 4.9 · 10−2 °/h.
