A system of working with biographical texts of medical scientists as a way to form professional communicative competence in international medical university students
The research aims to develop a system of professionally oriented Russian language instruction for international students based on the analysis of texts about prominent medical scientists. In connection with this, the article presents an analysis of educational material for international students of a medical profile, which allows for the formation of communicative and professional competencies necessary for a future specialist. The scientific novelty lies in the actualization of linguistic material significant in communicative, deontological, and linguocultural aspects (biographies of doctors from Russia and the Perm Territory), and in the use of a comprehensive approach to teaching and fostering the linguistic personality of foreign medical university students on the foundation of modern methodologies of higher education and teaching Russian as a Foreign Language: competence-based and professionally oriented linguodidactics; the theory of continuous education for a future specialist; and humanistic philosophy in the fostering of the personality of a future doctor. The research found that a phased, systematic approach to working with biographical texts of prominent medical scientists effectively forms a complex of professionally oriented competencies (linguistic, communicative, linguocultural) in international students and meets the principle of a professionally oriented approach to learning. Mastery of biographical texts develops international students’ ability to construct presentations of significant personalities in professional and scientific discourse; a professional interest in the legacy of scientists motivates students to engage in research project activities.
