Numerical Simulation and Thermal Efficiency Analysis of Top Combustion Hot Reduction Gas Stove Based on Computational Fluid Dynamics
To boost low‐carbon emission cuts in the steel industry, China has proposed the HyCROF smelting process. This article combines computational fluid dynamics, and the numerical simulation of the top combustion hot reduction gas stove is carried out. The results show that Case 3 is more favorable for combustion gas and air mixing and flue gas distribution. Case 3 combustion gas has the highest total CO and H 2 content and has the largest value of maximum temperature in the stove, 2106.344 K. Case 2 has the largest effective thermal region and higher temperatures for the overall gas‐supply period. The effective gas supply period for Case 2 and Case 3 is nearly identical, while Case 1 has the shortest effective gas supply period of 2945 s. Through numerical simulations under single‐factor variable conditions, it has been determined that appropriately augmenting the energy density and flow velocity of combustion gas while decreasing the flow velocity of decarbonized gas can extend the air supply duration and enhance the efficiency of the hot reduction gas stove.
