IOT-Enabled CNG Tank Monitoring System
The CNG Tank Monitoring System is designed to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of compressed natural gas (CNG) storage and management. It integrates advanced sensors, automation technologies, and real-time data processing to provide comprehensive monitoring and control of CNG tank conditions. Specifically tailored for industrial and vehicular applications, the system continuously tracks critical parameters such as tank levels, temperature, and gas pressure. By identifying and addressing anomalies swiftly, it reduces the risks associated with pressurized gas storage, such as leaks, overpressure, and overheating. The hardware includes temperature, pressure, and level sensors interfaced with a Raspberry Pi microcontroller, which processes real-time data to trigger safety measures when thresholds are breached. For instance, if the system detects overpressure, it activates venting mechanisms to release excess gas, preventing accidents. The software features a centralized dashboard that provides real-time monitoring and alerts both locally and remotely. It also supports cloud integration for remote access, data storage, and predictive analytics. Key outputs obtained from the system include effective pressure monitoring, which quickly detects anomalies such as overpressure or leaks, and temperature analysis that identifies overheating conditions. Gas concentration sensors have successfully detected leaks exceeding 5% methane concentration, with automated safety actions triggered within 2 seconds. Historical data analysis has optimized maintenance scheduling, reducing downtime by 15%. This system not only ensures safety but also promotes operational efficiency and proactive management of CNG tanks, making it an essential tool for modern gas storage and distribution systems.
