SCHIȚE PENTRU O ISTORIE CULTURALĂ A NOPȚII
Darkness is a complicated being, like the man who feeds on it. Only darkness is eternal in the beginning, primordial by definition. He does not invade us, instead he visits us. And it grounds us whenever we want to start over. The sunrise is hurried, volatile, sporadic. The sunset is constant, domineering, thorough. In line with Jung's theories, we realize that night not only facilitates dreaming but becomes itself a reason for dreaming. Healer or not, darkness climbs into the sky. And his impenetrable carves the twinkling of each star; gather from their flickering a shard of sun until the alarm calls the end of the night; which does not always see its work, being sometimes put on misdoings. Judas' kiss is a tip of night in a depth of light, a patch of dusk on an endless noon. It is a betrayal that triggers the Calvary; and the Universe resumes its story from its biblical origins, when the darkness that preceded the Fiat Lux was a champion of almost nothingness. These could be some reflections in front of a dense universe of representations generated by the night. In a long cultural history, starting from the Bible until our contemporary litterature, with a carefull attention to the words of the French Historians of Annals, we can see why the night keeps us in a state of vigilance, of self-surveillance and can give us some better answers on the human condition.
