BETA HCG LEVELS AS A MARKER OF PRE ECLAMPSIA IN SECOND TRIMESTER (13-20 WEEKS) OF PREGNANCY
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) include gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and chronic hypertension and they can complicate up to 10% of pregnancies. Early detection and management are crucial to improve outcomes for both mother and baby. In pre eclampsia, the insufcient trophoblast migration into the spiral arteries and subsequent placental hypoxia results in elevated hCG production by hyperplasic cytotrophoblastic cells of the placenta. Thus keeping in view the role of β hCG the present study was conducted to nd correlation of β hCG with preeclampsia at 13-20 weeks of gestation.
