ARITMETICĂ, POLITICĂ ȘI IDEOLOGIE ÎN ROMÂNIA INTERBELICĂ. ALEGERILE PARLAMENTARE DIN 1931
The year 1931 and the government of Iorga-Argetoianu (1931-1932) have retained the attention of historians for many reasons. In this article, we are almost exclusively interested in the fact that, leaving aside the case of 1937, the electoral system established by the law of 1926 has never been so much and so diversely put to the test. It is not about the central, emblematic provision, namely the "electoral bonus", but about numerous other details, gaps, contradictions, which were noticed at the time of the 1931 election or can be noticed retrospectively. I think that, at this electoral moment, it was best seen how the strange electoral system worked or how it did not work, and, broadening the framework, how the interwar Romanian political system worked institutionally, beyond the much-claimed principle of the separation of powers. We analyze, both legally and mathematically, a series of hesitations and errors in the establishment of the results, and particularly the annulment of the votes obtained by the communists.
