ANKLE-BRACHIAL INDEX (ABI) AS A PREDICTOR OF MILD COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT (MCI) IN PRIMARY CARE PRACTICE (PCP)
Objective: In PCP, patients with dementia present an increasing challenge MCI can be diagnosed using methods, as tests MMSE (Mini-Mental State Examination), ACE-III (Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination-III). The conclusion from the study may help GP-s select the high-risk group for MCI and accelerate further diagnostics. Design and method: The study group (n=137) were patients from the PCP. The study included men and women aged 50-76 years, was divided into 3 stages. 1. data from medical records. 2. MMSE and ACE-III.3. measuring ABI using a BOSSO device. Results: The mean ABI was M = 1.064, SD = 0.138, The score on MMSE was M=28.073, SD=5.11. The score on the ACE-III was M=86.037, SD=11.04, the abbreviated version, M-ACE, was M=24.199SD=4.788Conclusions: The assessment of subclinical organ damage ABI allows for the prediction of the occurrence of neurocognitive disorders.
