Promotion of psychological well-being in people with ataxia through mindfulness: scope analysis of similar pathologies

Abstract This study had two main goals. First to analyze the extend of the application of Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBIs) in reducing negative psychological side effects that in pathologies that are similar to ataxia. Second, to argue the extent to which findings obtained in the analyzed pathologies can be transferred to cases with ataxia. Because of the scarce amount of articles that exist on the research area selected, we performed attending to Systematic review (Sc) guidelines PRISMA recomendations. We analyzed thirteen databases and ten studies were selected for analysis. Results: The reduction in negative symptomatology effects was observed in analyzed studies. We mainly discussed the practical implications of the posible transfer of these findings for the use of MBIs in ataxia and we also suggested promising lines of research which should be explored in future studies.
