Molecular Engineering of N‐heteroaromatic Organic Cathode for High‐Voltage and Highly Stable Zinc Batteries (Adv. Funct. Mater. 21/2025)
Zinc–Organic Batteries Zinc batteries offer safe, low-cost grid storage but suffer from low-voltage (<1.2 V) organic cathodes. In article number 2312332, Jun Yin, Chunyi Zhi, Alex K.-Y. Jen and co-workers redesign triphenylamine cathodes by replacing phenyl rings with cationic cyclopropenium via molecular engineering. The optimized cathode achieves a 1.7 V discharge voltage, 157.5 mAh g−1 capacity, and 95% retention after 10,000 cycles, advancing high-energy zinc–organic batteries for grid storage.
