Promoting a valid question model for measuring computational thinking skills based on confirmatory factor analysis and Rasch model

The study aimed to validate and develop a valid computational thinking skills instrument using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the Rasch model on electrical material. Moreover, it introduced the question model, which is integrated with the fundamental dimensions of computational thinking skills. The research used a quantitative with a post-test-only design. The sample was 262 students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta and Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in 2024. The instrument question guideline was created based on the fundamental dimensions of computational thinking skills: decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms, which were used to compile 30 items. Content Validity Ratio was used to test content validity. Meanwhile, Fleiss Kappa was used to test inter-rater reliability. Data analysis was used to test validity using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the Rasch model. The results showed that out of 30 items, 29 met the Goodness of Fit criteria from the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the Rasch model. The fundamental dimensions of computational thinking, consisting of decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms, can be firmly integrated into learning assessments.
