Coronary artery disease in young women: a modern view on the problem

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the dominant cause of mortality. At the same time, women, especially young ones, often remain objectively underestimated regarding the risk of cardiac diseases. The incidence of comorbidities is currently increasing, including young people. The incidence of coronary artery disease in young women is also increasing (18—44 years). In addition to generally accepted risk factors, this disease in females has gender-specific risk factors (early menarche and early menopause, some gynecological diseases, complicated obstetric history) and is not always characterized by typical clinical course. Atypical clinical presentation and low alertness among medical personnel can lead to underdiagnosis and adverse consequences. In addition, it is now known that many traditional risk factors of cardiac pathology have a greater impact on women for unclear reasons.
