FUNKCIJA PROSTORA U KAPOROVIM FOLIRANTIMA
The subject of the research is the shaping of space in the novel Phonies (Foliranti) by Momo Kapor, as well as the way in which space influences the identification of the characters. The members of the triangle of phonies strive to conquer social spaces while their marginal status makes integration difficult and (im)possible for them. Based on Bakhtin’s theory of chronotopes and Lotman’s concept of binary oppositions, we provide an insight into the range of toponyms that depict the atmosphere of socialist Belgrade in the late 1960s and play a key role in the emergence, development and disintegration of the triangle of phonies. We conclude that the young hero’s need for belonging is the key motif on which the self-confessed hero builds his memory.
