FITOPOETIKA ROMANA ZA DECU „ZELENO KRALjEVSTVO“ KORNELIJE FUNKE I TAMI HARTUNG
The paper presents an ecocritical reading of the novel The Green Kingdom by Cornelia Funke and Tammi Hartung. The term phytopoetics refers to an ecopoetics centered on the vegetal Other. The study is theoretically and methodologically grounded in the critical plant studies within the framework of ecocriticism, with the primary aim of analyzing plant representations in the novel. The protagonist encounters “green” riddles in letters, which contain botanical information, details on the use of plants for medicinal purposes or nutrition, as well as folk beliefs, mythology, and human history — reflecting the complex relationship between humans and the plant world. The novel’s phytocentric focus, enriched with multimodal and intertextual elements, underscores the need to perceive the natural world not merely as a backdrop but to recognize plants as active and communicative subjects.
