THE INCIDENCE OF PORTAL HYPERTENSIVE GASTROPATHY AND ITS CORRELATION WITH DEGREE OF LIVER DYSFUNCTION IN CHRONIC LIVER DISEASE (CLD) PATIENTS
Background And Aim: Portal hypertensive gastropathy is common nding we come across during endoscopy.Current guidelines recommend follow-up endoscopy for patients with cirrhosis, with frequency depending on the presence of GOV and size of these varices.. Researchers have investigated various prognostic indices in Chronic liver disease patients. This study we use to correlate the Portal Hypertensive Gastropathy (PHG) with the liver disease severity and identifying the prognostic importance of the PHG with the CLD. Methods And Material: This is a crosssectional Observational study done during the period of 1 year which included 100 patients < 18 years, diagnosed with CLD of varied etiologies were included. Statistical Analysis Used: One-way Anova was applied to compare the mean of all continuous parameter among three group patients those with having no PHG, mild PHG and severe PHG. Atwo-sided P< 0.05 was considered statistically signicant for all analyses. Data were analysed using SPSS 26.0 Results: The incidence of PHG was 65 % with (35 % contributes to mild PHG and 64.6 % contributes to severe PHG).27 % patients had large varices; and 73 % patients had small varices. Portal hypertensive Gastropathy and CTP (Child Pugh score) comparison with a P value of 0.001, has signicant correlation with severity of Liver disease and Justies as a prognostic marker for CLD. The patients with CTPA-A 83 % mild PHG, 10 % severe PHG whereas CTP: B/C class had 90 % correlation with Severe PHG. Conclusions: The portal hypertensive gastropathy severity correlated with CTPgrading, hence it is useful as a prognostic marker for the CLD patients.
