Exploring floraand theirassociated animal species inthe village ecosystem of Goa

Thesurvey of plant species carried out in the village of Verna resulted indocumentationof 666plant speciesand 4mushroom species. Preliminary observationsin the villageshowthat theslopes of the plateau areas are rich in endemic flora.Mostof the plant species foundin the study area are representative of theWesternGhatsrainforest. The plant species profile of the village is closely tied to the region’s rainfall pattern. The distribution pattern of plant species inthevillage variesin different locations, mainly due to topographyand is influenced by the soiltypein the locality. This study revealsthe plant speciesfound in this village, setting a referencefor biodiversity conservation inthe village.
