Exploring the integration of AI and technology-based learning in higher education in Nigeria

Technology is an important tool in academics, used as digital tools, resources, and innovative methods to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment processes, ultimately leading to improved student outcomes, increased engagement, and personalised education experience. By leveraging technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), educators can create a more effective, efficient, and student-centered learning environment, leading to improved academic performance and better preparation for success in the digital age. This study explored the effectiveness of the inclusion of technology-based learning, such as AI, in higher education by investigating the preparedness of students. Utilising the survey method, Questionnaires were utilized as instruments to solicit responses from 250 students of Koladaisi University, Ibadan, as the case for the study. Findings revealed that the undergraduate students are familiar with technology-based learning as it facilitates their comprehension and retention of difficult information, enhancing their personal experience of the benefits of technology in understanding and remembering complex ideas. The study concludes that technology has played a positive role in helping students grasp complex concepts through improvements in their comprehension and retention acumen when using specific technology-based learning platforms. The study recommends further use and inclusion of technology in the higher education curriculum. Key words: Exploring, integration, AI, technology-based learning, higher education.
