UMA ANÁLISE SOBRE O IMPACTO ECONÔMICO E SUSTENTÁVEL DA GESTÃO DE RESÍDUOS NA CONSTRUÇÃO CIVIL NA CONTEMPORANEIDADE

ABSTRACT One of the sectors that generates the most solid waste in Brazil is the construction industry, accounting for between 30% and 40% of all discarded waste, according to the Solid Waste Panorama in Brazil (2024). Improper disposal of this waste negatively impacts the environment and public health, and also imposes significant economic costs on municipalities. This study aims to present and analyze the economic and sustainable impacts of solid waste management in the construction sector today, through a literature review based on laws, technical standards, reports, and scientific studies. The theoretical framework relies on documents such as Law N°. 12.305/2010 (National Solid Waste Policy), CONAMA Resolution N°. 307/2002, and ABNT standards, which regulate the management, reuse, and recycling of construction and demolition waste (CDW). Among the findings, practices like recycling and reuse of CDW stand out, as they not only reduce environmental impact but also generate economic savings and new opportunities in the sector. However, despite legal and institutional advances, challenges remain in effectively implementing these practices, especially at the municipal level. Proper waste disposal, combined with oversight and awareness among stakeholders, is essential to promote a more sustainable and responsible construction industry. Keywords: Construction and Demolition Waste. Recycling. Reuse. Sustainability.
