Rapid prototyping of control modules for the DTT Plasma Control System

An integrated development environment based on MDSplus and MARTe2 has been chosen as a framework to deploy real-time control and data acquisition systems for the Divertor Tokamak Test (DTT) facility. Within such an integrated framework, a specific tool wraps the code automatically generated by Simulink Coder® into real-time executable modules. This feature enables fast prototyping of the DTT Plasma Control System components and, consequently, the possibility of performing both Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validations. This paper shows how the proposed framework can be exploited to assess the robustness of control against communication delays among the various components through HIL simulations that exploit a real-time version of an electromagnetic plasma model running on a dSpace® target. • The DTT toolset for RT systems development enables x-in-the-loop simulations for V&V. • PFC current control and the VS have been chosen to prove the effectiveness of the framework. • The use of the SCALEXIO real-time target permit to estimate detailed performance.
