Advanced oxidations process using peroxymonosulfate and Ce/ZnCo2O4 nanocomposite for dyes degradation

Dyes and material industry dyes are among the major causes of water pollution when released untreated into water bodies. This consideration is based on the corruption of these colors by peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activated by a novel Ce/ZnCo₂O₄ nanocomposite catalyst. We synthesized and characterized the Ce/ZnCo₂O₄ catalyst with state-of-the-art techniques, making it suitable for use in color corruption. Optimization of different parameters was conducted, such as PMS concentration, catalyst dose, initial color concentration, and pH values. The experiments showed that the total corruption (100 %) of methylene blue (MB) (20 ppm) occurred within a reasonable 10 min at the optimal conditions: 10 mg of PMS, 5 mg of catalyst, and pH 7. Moreover, we examined the debasement instrument through forager tests that made a difference in recognizing the dynamic species included. The reusability of the catalyst was also assessed over numerous cycles, illustrating its soundness and adequacy. This study inquires about and underscores the noteworthy potential of the Ce/ZnCo₂O₄ nanocomposite catalyst in progressed oxidation forms, displaying a reasonable arrangement for the treatment of dye-contaminated wastewater and contributing to more maintainable hones in mechanical water administration. • Novel Ce-doped ZnCo₂O₄ hollow-sphere catalyst enhances PMS activation for dye degradation. • Broad-spectrum efficiency: Degrades multiple dyes (MB, RhB, MO, and CV) and 4- nitrophenol. • Singlet oxygen ( 1 O₂) dominates degradation, proven by scavenger tests and XPS analysis. • Characterization confirms Ce doping, oxygen vacancies, and hollow-sphere structure enhancing catalytic activity. • Energy-efficient Works without light, suitable for industrial wastewater treatment.
