Improved DC-DC boost converter for renewable energy generation systems: featuring high voltage gain and low component stress
The new energy power generation system has the problem of low output voltage, which to some extent limits the development of renewable energy. Therefore, it is very important to increase the DC boost ratio. To improve the voltage gain of boost converters, a novel high-gain boost converter is proposed by introducing switched-capacitor(SC) and switched-inductor(SI) technologies. The topology and operating principles are elaborated first. The voltage gain and voltage stress of each component are derived, and a comparative analysis with existing high-gain DC-DC converters is conducted. Ultimately, experiments using SiC devices was developed to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis. This solution offers merits such as a high step-up ratio and reduced component stress, achieving a good balance between voltage gain and component stress, making it suitable for renewable energy systems.
