Evaluating the performance of CT method in distributed Brillouin fiber sensing
We present a numerical analysis of the performance (e.g., SNR and spatial resolution) of a recently proposed computed tomography (CT) method in distributed fiber sensing (<i>Opt. Express</i> 29, 35067 (2021)). Compared with conventional methods, the CT method achieves an <i>N</i>1/2 improvement in the SNR scaling law with respect to the number <i>N</i> of resolved points, at the expense of random accessibility and a few times lower spatial resolution.
