All-optical direct strain sensor based on multimode fiber and optical computing

Most optical fiber sensing systems require post-processing to obtain measurement information, resulting in computational burden and slow measurement speed. We propose a novel all-optical strain sensor with resolution of 0.74 με by directly reading photodetector output with multimode fiber speckle sensing and diffractive optical computing technologies.

Abstract

Most optical fiber sensing systems require post-processing to obtain measurement information, resulting in computational burden and slow measurement speed. We propose a novel all-optical strain sensor with resolution of 0.74 με by directly reading photodetector output with multimode fiber speckle sensing and diffractive optical computing technologies.
