Multiphase Production Logging in Long Horizontal Well to Optimise Multizone Production in a Complex Carbonate Reservoir
Summary The Carbonate Long Horizontal well was drilled targeting mainly Platform facies with variable degrees of leaching. The completion strategy of this well formed a crucial step forward to optimise oil production from the heterogeneous Shaiba build-up area carbonates. Muti-zone completions, with Inflow Control Device (ICD) deployments were deployed to de-risk/evaluate technology for future developments. The well was completed with a 7-zone ICD completion, to maximise oil recovery. A representative 3 Phase PLT was required to accurately evaluate and quantify the contribution from each zone, and to evaluate the completion performance. This was successfully carried out, with key inputs to zone control and manipulation.
