Low Loss Printable Dielectrics for mmWave Components

In this paper, a comprehensive list of materials in combination with various additive manufacture (AM) approaches is provided to facilitate the optimal selection of low-loss dielectric materials. As a case study for those AM low loss materials an additively manufactured dielectric tripole rod antenna with integrated multimode power divider is presented. The demonstrator itself has a bandwidth of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{B}_{20\mathrm{d}\mathrm{B}}\approx 4.7$</tex> GHz at a center frequency of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{f}_{\mathrm{c}}=75$</tex> GHz.

Abstract

In this paper, a comprehensive list of materials in combination with various additive manufacture (AM) approaches is provided to facilitate the optimal selection of low-loss dielectric materials. As a case study for those AM low loss materials an additively manufactured dielectric tripole rod antenna with integrated multimode power divider is presented. The demonstrator itself has a bandwidth of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{B}_{20\mathrm{d}\mathrm{B}}\approx 4.7$</tex> GHz at a center frequency of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathrm{f}_{\mathrm{c}}=75$</tex> GHz.
