1 bit Reconfigurable Dual-Beam Magnetoelectric Dipole Array Antenna for Beam Steering
In this paper, a 1-bit reconfigurable magneto electric (ME) antenna is designed and used to realize the phase control with a simple method. By switching the different excitation ports, the antenna can radiate the wide beam with two different electric field phases (0° and 180°). Based on this feature, a one-to-nine array antenna is designed to realize the beam scanning capability, which can be realized by adjusting the distinct phase states of every element in the array. The array can scan from -60° to 60° in the operating bandwidth from 4GHz to 5.05GHz with dual-beam capability. It exhibits the peak gain of 14.1dBi and maintains a cross-polarization level below -15dB across the frequency band. The proposed array offers the benefits of low cost and ease of control.
