AI Based Methods for Insider Threats Detection for Cloud Risk Mitigation
The evolution of cloud computing and its increased adoption has revolutionized data storage and accessibility but has given way to security vulnerabilities, such as insider threats. These threats make use of their authorized access to compromise sensitive data and disrupt services, posing huge concerns about cloud security. Traditional perimeterbased methods struggle to address these threats, making Artificial Intelligence (AI) based solutions a favorable choice for offering security against insider threats. This article discusses the role of AI in insider threat mitigation in the cloud, pointing out its ability to analyze user behavior, detect anomalies, and respond to possible threats. An extensive study of existing AIbased methods is performed, which highlights their strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, the use case of AI solutions for insider threat detection and mitigation in the cloud is also explored, showcasing their applicability in real-world scenarios. Finally, we point out the challenges linked with AI-powered solutions and offer future direction to enhance the AI-based detection and mitigation of insider threats.
