Practice based Computing for Sustainable Digital Transformation
Digital technologies have the potential to transform service delivery and bring operational efficiency to organizations. Therefore, different sectors of economies such as governments [1], businesses [2], [3], and energy [4] are striving to integrate technologies into their organizational processes. Digital transformation in every domain has improved efficiency and productivity. However, the integration of digital technologies in modern day human life has led to challenges and failures. The challenges like digital divide, cybersecurity risks, ethical concerns on information transparency and human job replacement require considerable efforts and collaboration from all stakeholders. Global digital index [5], has adopted a market demand and supply driven approach of technology adoption. They have categorized different economies into front runners, adopters and starters based on four enablers. The data highlights that still significant effort is required to foster appropriate digital transformation initiatives in the global context. According to International Data Corporation, global digital transformation initiatives are expected to be around $4 trillion by 2027 [6], and only one third of these projects end up in meeting the objectives successfully [7].
