Evaluation of Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Adaptive Antennas using a Low-cost Sensor Network
The introduction of 5G adaptive antennas has raised additional concern about the characteristics of the electromagnetic exposure in the public. New approaches are needed to assess the exposure level of electromagnetic fields induced by the adaptive technology used for 5G mobile communication. The randomness of this technology induced by the demand for bandwidth and the resulting electric field strength distributions remain speculative in daily use. Therefore, a systematic analysis in the close surrounding of a base station making use of adaptive antenna technology may answer the question about the characteristics of the associated exposure. Although other studies aiming at the assessment of the exposure from adaptive base station antennas have been published, none of them combines simultaneous data recording from several locations with the scalability of affordable measurement equipment [1], [2].
