A Novel Self-Configurable Algorithm for Uncoordinated Deployment of Home gNodeBs in 5th Generation Wireless Networks
Currently, small cellular base stations of the Next Generation Wireless Networks called Home gNodeBs (HgNBs) are emerging as potential solutions for providing coverage and capacity extension in the local area and indoor environment. Hence, a random and uncoordinated deployment of large number of HgNBs can be imagined as a future possibility. This paper proposes a novel Spectrum Load Equilibrium (SLE) algorithm for flexible spectrum usage. Based on the Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR) threshold, the SLE algorithm works by self-assessing the radio environment to prevent mutual interference among HgNBs, so that their coexistence can be ensured on the shared spectrum. Performances of the network are measured in comparison to fixed frequency reuse of 1, 2 and 4 schemes after deployment of HgNBs in terms of considered key performance indicators (KPIs). It is seen that the proposed algorithm has provided higher average user and cell throughput performance for different offered cell loads in comparison to reuse 1 and 4 schemes although it is outperformed by frequency reuse2 scheme. The results obtained using proposed algorithm are then compared with standard results which show improvement in KPIs like average user throughput and Average cell throughput performance. This is primarily due to allocation of resources in a timely and reliable manner. The proposed algorithm is not only self-configurable, scalable, supports flexible spectrum usage but also improves average user and cell throughput performance. Hence, it can be considered as a candidate for uncoordinated deployment of HgNBs in the local area of 5thgeneration wireless systems.
