Investigating the Validity and Reliability of the Checklist for Assessing the Health Status of Patients Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit: Diagnostic Score (M Score)

Background: One of the important issues in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) is the proper assessment of patients, leading to accurate diagnosis and treatment. So far, such a checklist for assessing the health status of patients has not been introduced, and most systems are designed solely for determining prognosis. The diagnostic score (M score) checklist was designed with such an approach in this study, and its validity and reliability underwent investigation. Methods: The present descriptive research was conducted in two stages, including designing and examining the validity and reliability of the assessment checklist for the health status of patients admitted based on their ICU diagnostic scores (M score) . Content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI) coefficients were used to assess the content validity of the checklist. Finally, formal validity was confirmed, and reliability was determined using Cronbach’s alpha. Results: The CVR ranged from 0.34 to 1, and the CVI ranged from 0.84 to 1, indicating acceptable content validity for the checklist, which is acceptable for the current checklist. Cronbach’s alpha was calculated as 0.954. Conclusion: The investigation of the validity and reliability index related to the mentioned checklist revealed that this questionnaire has appropriate validity and reliability for assessing the health status of patients admitted to the ICU and is suitable for use in therapeutic interventions.
