INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING AOPs AND ACTIVATED CARBON FOR MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT
An assessment of the global issues related to the accumulation of dangerous stable micro-pollutants in water bodies, including biological origin, has been carried out. The analysis of modern approaches to municipal wastewater treatment using advanced biotechnological solutions (methods: SHARON, CANON, BABE, OLAND, ANAMMOX) and AOPs has been performed; promising aspects of their combination have been identified to increase the efficiency of disposal of persistent forms of pollutants. A method has been developed for experimental studies of the removal of pollutants from aqueous solutions based on the use of ozonation, ultrasonic exposure, electrolysis under pressure and the introduction of powdered activated carbon as a reagent. The results of municipal wastewater treatment demonstrated the prospects of using such methods; the best integrated productivity in terms of nitrogenous compounds, organoleptic and microbiological parameters was provided by a combination of pressure electrolysis and dosing of powdered activated carbon. It is proposed to use such a technological approach for post-treatment of wastewater after biological treatment plants.
