Amino acid composition of modern feeds for fur-bearing carnivorous animals
In the recipes of feed of fur-bearing carnivores, the biological value of protein, determined by the presence of essential amino acids in feed, is of the greatest importance. The amino acid composition of feed used by Russian fur farms was most fully analyzed more than 50 years ago. During this time, the feed base of fur farming has changed significantly, since the food industry, the waste of which is feed for fur-bearing carnivores, has switched to the technology of deep processing of beef, pork, poultry and fish. In our work, we conducted laboratory studies of the amount of crude protein and amino acids of modern feeds for native substance and recalculated essential amino acids as a percentage of protein. A comparative analysis of the biological completeness of feed protein by the amino acid score for the limiting essential amino acids (LEAA) in feeding minks, sables and foxes – methionine and cystine – was carried out and the studied feeds were divided into highly complete, complete and incomplete. Feeds with the maximum and minimum LEAA content were also determined. The purpose of this work is to conduct laboratory research and analysis of literature sources on the amino acid composition of feed for fur-bearing animals. To determine the biological value (BC) of feed protein used in modern fur farming in Russia.
