A Novel Multifunctional Shunt Active Power Filter Based AI-Driven for Grid-Tied PV System using Z-Source Inverter

Contemporary power systems face significant power quality (PQ) challenges due to the increasing prevalence of nonlinear loads, especially power electronics circuits. This research proposes a novel Shunt Active Power Filter (ShAPF) system that utilizes an advanced Z-source inverter (ZSI) topology combined with a grid-tied photovoltaic (PV). The proposed system offers a single-stage power conversion process, enhancing efficiency and reducing complexity and costs. By employing artificial intelligence (AI) control strategies, our system achieves superior performance in harmonic elimination, power factor (PF) correction, and current balancing simultaneously as a multifunctional operation, adhering to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. This solution not only addresses power quality issues but also promotes sustainable energy integration, particularly benefiting rural microgrids in regions such as rural Africa.
