Recent Advances in Physics-Assisted Inverse Scattering

An innovative physics-assisted methodology for quantitative microwave inverse scattering (IS) is presented. In this context, the System-by-Design (SbD) paradigm is employed, jointly with the exploitation of space and time priors, to regularize the imaging procedure and reduce the illposedness of the inverse problem at hand. An illustrative example, concerned with brain stroke imaging, is reported to assess the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract

An innovative physics-assisted methodology for quantitative microwave inverse scattering (IS) is presented. In this context, the System-by-Design (SbD) paradigm is employed, jointly with the exploitation of space and time priors, to regularize the imaging procedure and reduce the illposedness of the inverse problem at hand. An illustrative example, concerned with brain stroke imaging, is reported to assess the effectiveness of the proposed method.
