Harmonic Minimization in Cascaded Multi-Level Inverter Using Invasive Weed Optimization
This study investigates the application of Invasive Weed Optimization (IWO), Harmony Search Algorithm (HSA), and Genetic Algorithm (GA) for optimizing switching angles in an eleven-level Cascaded Multi-Level Inverter (CMLI). The objective is to minimize low-order harmonic distortion in the output voltage for both single-phase and three-phase configurations. The research employs a comparative analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of these optimization algorithms in achieving optimal switching angles using Selected Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation (SHE-PWM). This approach minimizes Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) within the output voltage while adhering to predefined harmonic limits. The results of this comparative analysis will shed light on the strengths and weaknesses of each optimization technique for harmonic mitigation in CMLIs.
