OBN Hybrid Concept and 4D used in Carbonates Middle East Environment
Summary Although the PRM (Permanent Reservoir Monitoring) approach has demonstrated its efficiency in mature place like North Sea, this approach is complex to be replicated in Middle East. Indeed, shallow waters and the number and extension of the assets require to investigate alternative solutions. After analysing the 4D assets needs versus field development decisions, authors have realized that the overall volume to be acquired per year was typically ranging between [120–180] km2 OBN per year. Inspired by some North Sea operators, OBN hybrid experience has recycled the containerized source concept and assessed with seismic contractor the possibility of adding the containerized nodal effort on-board a PSV like vessel. The hybrid concept turned out to be technically feasible and well adapted to typical small 4D projects, potentially split onto several areas of 50–60 km2 each.
