Multidisciplinary Approach for Successful Stress Measurements and Mapping Completion Quality
Summary Oil and gas field operations, particularly those involving drilling and completions, demand robust stress modeling to optimize field development plans. Hydraulic packer and sleeve fracturing methods have been employed over the past few years based on the characteristics of targeted rock types and expected breakdown pressures. This paper presents a comparative review of different methods, such as natural-fall off and flowback tests, utilized during hydraulic packer testing, with specific focus on how mud chemical properties influence results across different lithologies including dolomite, limestone, and anhydrite. The effects of mud particle size distribution and filter cake integrity on pressure profiles during injection are discussed. Additionally, the determination of stress path under injection and depletion conditions has been explored through various interpretation techniques such as SQRT, G-function analysis, and stiffness tests to estimate closure stress ( Craig et al., 2017 ).
