Evaluating Liquid Polymers for EOR: Injectivity Challenges in Low Permeability Reservoirs
Summary Liquid polymers (LP), also known as emulsion polymers, present a compelling option for chemical enhanced oil recovery (cEOR), especially in onshore and offshore applications where space and environmental concerns are paramount. The primary goal of this study is to conduct injectivity tests on low permeability reservoir rocks using different liquid polymers (LPs) proposed by two commercial vendors. The qualification process involves comparing two LP products, one from each vendor, based on differential pressure measurements along core plugs. Further tests for polymer adsorption, mechanical degradation, and thermal degradation are carried out to establish a comprehensive comparison of the products.
