Representações de gênero nos filmes Jurassic Park e Ammonite
This paper analyzes representations of genders and genres in contemporary films featuring characters of paleontologists: the American movie Jurassic Park (1993) and the British one Ammonite (2020). Both have in common a critical stance towards the male gender and certain aspects of film genres. However, while Jurassic Park confronts the roles given to genders without showing the class relations implied – a liberal feminist position –, Ammonite focuses on the oppression of women and shows that it is linked to the difference in social class – a Marxist feminist position. The analysis is based on the theoretical framework of materialist discourse analysis, on feminist-Marxist studies by Silvia Federici and on Bordwell and Thompson's observations on film genre.
