Fiber optic seismometer based on scattering enhanced DAS
In this paper, a fiber optic seismometer based on scattering-enhanced DAS is proposed. By inscribing scattering enhanced points (SEP) on single-mode fibers, the system achieves improved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and reduced noise levels. Experimental results shows its ability of detecting seismic events over 2200 kilometers with high consistency compared with an STS-2.5 seismometer. We think this is a significant improvement on conventional DAS systems, which provides low-noise and high-sensitivity acceleration measurement.
