A first study of CO adsorption-IR spectroscopy and HER activity: Understanding TiO2 morphology effects on MoS2 active sites
In this work, the morphology of TiO 2 support is tuned from bulk anatase into tubular and wire ones in order to reveal its impact on MoS 2 active sites for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER). For the first time, characterization of MoS 2 edge sites by CO adsorption followed by IR spectroscopy (IR/CO) is correlated with their HER activity and kinetics. IR/CO characterization allows to draw structure-electrocatalytic activity relationships, underlining the positive effect of increased Mo edge site concentration but also of increased electron density at Mo edge sites and of the (001) anatase TiO 2 facet.
