Image Processing Software to Quantify Cell Migration During Wound Healing Assay in Cancer Research

For this project, in the need of a standardized method to process and analyze images obtained from a technique to evaluate cell migration during cancer research, an image processing software was developed using MATLAB. This program automatically identifies the area of a wound in a cell culture and calculates the number of pixels in it to quantify cell migration. The software delivers accurate and precise results to support cancer investigations, 17 times faster than manual methods with an accuracy of 2.8%.
