3D FEA and Broken Magnet Study of PMSM Topologies for EV Application
This work present the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) based investigation and a study of the performances of the Permanent Magnets Synchronous Machines (PMSMs) for the case of normal and in failure conditions. the work for different PMSM topologies highlight the rotor topology choice influence on the machine performances, the torque and the cogging torque analysis for the designed machines represent an objective for a smooth torque especially for the Electric Vehicle (EV) and for hybrid propulsion application, for this goal two topologies of PMSM are implemented and studied for normal condition and the case when we have a broken magnet rotors the diagnosis of the different PMSM topologies is obtained with 3D transient FEA.
