Implementation of an Automatic Pointer Based on Eye Movement Tracking

The Tobii Eye Tracker 5 is an advanced eye tracking device that accurately captures the user's eye movements. This equipment is used in the control interface, allowing the person to select options by eye gaze, such as directions to follow or commands to execute. The development of the control system has been programmed in Python. The pointer was programmed to perform an automatic click after 3 seconds of eye fixation on a point. To optimize accuracy, a conversion of the pointer position from pixels to centimeters was implemented so that, within a radius of 2 cm around the target, the system executes the click. This adaptation was designed considering that eye tracking may present slight fluctuations, and the established margin of error ensures that the interaction is performed without the need for perfect eye fixation. This automatic click system enhances control of both the interface and device functions, without requiring exact eye coordination. This is especially beneficial for users with limited mobility or motor disabilities.
