Enhanced Fault Estimation Using a Second Order Sliding Mode Observer
Ensuring great performance in the presence of sensor malfunctions requires accurate estimation of both state variables and sensor faults. The second-order sliding mode observer (2SMO) stands out for its robustness and high performance in estimating state variables, making it an effective solution for fault estimation. This paper proposes a 2SMO for the simultaneous estimation of sensor faults and state variables for discrete linear systems. The observer is designed using the Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) approach to ensure stability. A simulation example demonstrates the efficiency and robustness of our proposed 2 SMO.
